Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred at 8:44 p.m. Christmas Day, Dec. 25, in Rockingham County.
A 2017 Lexus ES 350 was heading westbound on Route 253 (Port Republic Road) near the intersection with Route 704 when it encountered a pedestrian standing in the travel lane. The Lexus was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian.
The roadway is not lit in that area.
Xiomara Jeaneth Larin-Quintanilla, 41, of Woodstock, Va., was transported to UVA Medical Center. She died at the hospital Dec. 29, 2023.
The driver of the Lexus, a 22-year old female from Rockingham, Va., was not injured in the crash.
